Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
Now we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it - a hope] that reaches farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] withing the veil, where Jesus has entered in for us [in advance] a Forerunner having become a High Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 6:19-20 (amp)

We have hope like an anchor that will not be moved! No matter what is going on around us we are anchored into Gods line ... Be encouraged and keep your hope in Christ.

Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith which we are speaking. That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Sovereign and believe in your heart that God raise Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Romans 10:8-9

Confession may be difficult at times but it is good for the soul ... take a moment now to confess. Allow the Spirit of God to refresh you with faith, hope and joy.

Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Philippians 2:1-2

When people of faith unite together for justice and purpose, powerful and positive things can and do happen! We are called to join together one with another! If you are not part of a community of faith I encourage you to get involved! God is calling you ... and so am I...

Dear Friends:
For as high as the heavens are above the earth so great is Gods love for those who fear God. as far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our transgressions from us.
Psalms 103:11-12

We can come to God and ask for forgiveness for those things we have done that will separate us from God. It is in this act of asking for forgiveness that we are able to receive from God.

Dear Friends:
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8

We hear a lot about love ... we may not always experience unconditional love, but love does exist. We are called to work on loving others ... and it will cover us ...

Dear Friends:
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trust in Christ will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, the same God is God of all and richly blesses all call upon God.
Romans 10:11-12

This text reminds me that who ever is willing to believe and call upon God ... God hears the call and understands that there is no difference between the call of people. Gay, Straight, BI, Trans, or anything else ... Everyone who calls upon the Name of Jesus will be saved!

Dear Friends:
These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
Hebrews 11:39-40

Hebrews 11 is considered the 'faith' chapter ... telling us how all the people did what they did by faith. The thing is God has something better planned when we exercise our faith. Are you moving in faith in your life? Or are you just going through the motions?

Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
Int that day declares the Sovereign God, I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief. I will make the lame a remnant, those driven away a strong nation.
Micah 4:6-7

Through out scripture we read how God takes the unlikely and restores the broken. I know that we may have many broken places in our lives ... but I also know God restores.

Dear Friends:
My God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, God will be a light to me.
Micah 7:7-8

Sometimes we have life's defeats and it may look as if success eludes us. Everyday we have the opportunity for a new beginning. I believe in the light of Christ and that we will be shown the way to go.
Begin again today ...

Dear Friends:
Do not quench (suppress or subdue) the (Holy) Spirit... But test and prove all things [until you can recognize what is good; [to that] hold fast.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 &21

The Holy Spirit will direct us as we learn what that means. It is different for everyone and it takes practice too.

Daily Devotional

Dear Friends:
Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]: Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks] for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and the Mediator of that will].
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (amp)

It is not easy to praise God when negative things happen is it? At our Study last night we read about Job and how he would not curse God and in the end God blessed him. Many times we want the blessing of a double portion but are not willing to preserve or even pray through the difficulty. I encourage you today to persever in your time of prayer and to keep giving thanks!

Dear Friends:
Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always).
1 Thessalonians 5:15 (amp)

It may be difficult at times to be happy ... I am reminded of the song "Don't worry be Happy." Although it was corny it was a great message! And so today I encourage you to be happy.

Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
I have been crucified with Christ: it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, who love me and gave Himself up for me.
Galatians 2:20 (amp)

Going through trials is nothing compared to what Christ went through as he was crucified. I am reminded of Gods grace and the gifts God has given us. My prayer today is that we would all use our gifts to the fullness God intended.

Dear Friends:
For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:4

We are given the opportunity to bring everything before God! There are things in this life we might not understand but when given over to God we can overcome.

Dear Friends:
Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and the devil will flee from you.
James 4:7

When you submit to God you surrender your will to do Gods will. Submit and resist are powerful ways in which you can be taken deeper spiritually with God.
God will help you as you resisting those things that temp you.

Dear Friends:
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time God may exalt you.
1 Peter 5:6

Coming with humility before God is a very powerful thing! When we learn this valuable lesson we are able to come casting our cares upon God and God lifts us up when we do!

Dear Friends:
And Jesus said to them, have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber to capture Me? I was with you daily in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me; but this has happened that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.
Mark 14:48-49

During this Holy Week we read about the events that Jesus went through to the cross. I pray that we can follow the ways of His teaching, prayer and nonviolence working for justice.

Think upon the events of the Passion and remember the price that was paid for us.

Dear Friends:
But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver. precious stone, wood, hay, straw, the work of each [one] will become known. (Shown for what it is):
1 Corinthians 3:12,13a

God knows our hearts and why we do what we do ... and one day it will be shown for what it is. I encourage you today to build your foundation upon God and clean your heart of ulterior motives.

Daily Devotion

Dear Friends:
Sow for yourselves according to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God): reap according to mercy and loving-kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to seek God, to inquire for and of God and to require Gods favor, till God comes and teaches you righteousness and rains God's righteous gift of salvation upon you.
Hosea 10:12

Seek Gods favor upon your life! Live in the righteousness that God has given to you!
How awesome is God!

Dear Friends:
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]: I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.
Psalm 84:10

It may be difficult at times to profess our love for Christ but it is better than the ease of following right along with the things that are unjust. God help us to come out of our spiritual closets. Because when we do You will help us bring positive change to this desperate world.

Dear Friends:
For [it is] better to suffer [unjustly] for doing right, if that should be Gods will, than to suffer [justly] for doing wrong.
1 Peter 3:17

No one likes to suffer and it is especially difficult when we suffer from doing wrong. But there are times when doing right will still lead to some kind of pain and this will bring growth and understanding.

Dear Friends:
The Spirit of God came upon Jahaziel .... and he said listen you inhabitants of Jerusalem and you king Jehoshapat. The Sovereign God says this to you: Be not afraid or dismayed at the great multitude; for the battle is not your but God's.
2 Chronicles 20:14a, 15

During worship the people were encouraged! The received a word of God from God before the fact! God is with you and will deliver you as you and that is cause to worship!
