Daily Devotion
Dear Friends:
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
True friends tell you the truth whether you want to hear it or not! Growth does not happen by staying home by yourself ... God knows it is much easier not to deal with other people but that is the point. We are called to sharpen each other with God tender mercy which is not always easy.

Dear Friends:
God is justice; God will not forsake the faithful ones. The righteous shall be kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off
Psalm 37:28
We are called by God to 'act justly' even when unjust things are done! Today is the California Supreme Court ruling and either way the court rule will require us to act justly. There is work still to be done.

In the name of Jesus we command you to keep away from every one who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received ....
2 Thessalonians 3:6
I think what Paul and Timothy were saying to the church here is not to be lazy. Keep your self in tune with the Spirit of God by serving the church, working and using your gifts! Your gifts are very valuable and I pray that you are using them for the glory of God.

People become poor that deal with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
Proverbs 10:4
The Proverb encourages us to be diligent in our serving, working and doing.
What things have you put off doing ... that you need to do? Be diligent and God will bless you. I doubt God likes it when we are slackers!

I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [God] gave the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:6
We are all called to do something ... our part it may be cleaning the church, feeding the homeless, being an usher or being on the prayer team! I believe God will give the increase if we do the watering ... which is our part!

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that yo stand firm in one spirit, contending as one person for the faith of the gospel, without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.
Philippians 1:2-28a
It is of utmost importance that you take care of your stuff! Stay on your side of the street when dealing with issues and problems. You can rise above the craziness if you stand firm in the Spirit.

Jesus said to them, do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on a stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear let them hear.
Mark 4:21-23
Things done for the wrong motive will be brought into Gods light! God teach us to hear You and obey what you called us to do.

However we posses this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be of God and not from ourselves.
2 Corinthians 4:7
Our lives are a treasure for the purpose of God. We might forget at times to ask for Gods help to get through our frail condition. May the light of God shine through your life as you serve God.

Running a race takes training and practice! Living a life takes participation and trust. I pray that we would be people who are willing to fully live and take hold of the things God has given us to do! Then do them! What are you waiting for?

So be done with every trace of wickedness all all deceit and insincerity and grudges, slander and evil speaking of every kind. Like new born babies you should crave the pure spiritual mile that by it you may be nurtured and grow into salvation.
1 Peter 2:1-2
We are called to grow up ... some people may get older but never grow spiritually. The sad thing is the growing up spiritually takes dedication, work, prayer, faithfulness and a dependence upon the Spirit of the living God. Where in your spiritual life do you need to grow up?

Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved that with God one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. God does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what God promises, according to some people's conception of slowness, but God is long-suffering toward you , not desiring that any should perish but that all should turn to repentance.

I know from my own experience that God is not always early but never late!
